FIRST MONDAY The Law Democrats, along with the American Constitution Society (ACS), Federalist Society and Law Republicans, will co-sponsor the annual First Monday event, commemorating when the United States Supreme Court starts its new session each year. Students will meet for wine and hors d'œuvres to discuss the pending cases for the upcoming year, including the controversial gun case that may apply the Second Amendment to the states (McDonald vs. Chicago). Seton Hall faculty will be in attendance, so this is a good chance to pick their brains about some of the upcoming cases. Information on the current Supreme Court's docket for the 2009-2010 session is available at: http://www.abanet.org/publiced/preview/briefs/home.html. |

MUSLIM LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (MLSA) MLSA is hosting an Eid ul-Fitr Dinner celebrating the breaking of the fasting period. Authentic food will be available. Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fiṭr means "to break fast"; and so the holiday symbolizes the breaking of the fasting period. It is celebrated after the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan, on the first day of Shawwal. |
