Samuel J. Heyman Public Service Lecture & Reception
Program to award government service fellowships on April 12, 2010 at 4 p.m. in the auditorium.
The late Samuel J. Heyman, a successful businessman with a remarkable public service background, founded a fellowship program in his name to enable students and alumni to fulfill their aspirations in government roles.
The Samuel J. Heyman Fellowship Program was founded in 2006 and has named 17 fellows. Similar programs exist at Yale and Harvard Law Schools. The program encourages students with outstanding credentials to make an early commitment to federal government work, assists them with identifying and obtaining challenging federal positions and provides financial assistance to graduates who have secured a position in federal government.
Mr. Heyman died on November 7, 2009, but his legacy lives on. His program has helped recipients of the fellowship overcome the financial hurdles of entering into public service and provided mentorship to some of Seton Hall’s brightest in pursuing their careers.
Michelle DePass, the Assistant Administrator for International Affairs at the Environmental Protection Agency, will be speaking at the event, which will also be attended by Mrs. Ronnie Heyman, Samuel Heyman’s wife.
