Scholarship Reception, February 7

The Hon. Jose Linares, of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, will serve as keynote speaker at the Fourth Annual Diversity Scholarship Reception. sponsored by Seton Hall Law's vibrant student organizations and the Dean's Diversity Council.

Jose Linares joined the court in 2002 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. A born Cuban turned American citizen, Judge Linares graduated from Jersey City State University with his Bachelor's Degree in 1975, and later graduated from Temple Law School in Philadelphia with his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1978. Judge Linares first became a supervising attorney in the New York City Department of Investigation from 1978 to 1980 before moving to New Jersey to become a private practice attorney licensed in the State of New Jersey from 1980 to 2000. In 2000, Judge Linares became a Superior Court Judge in the Essex County Superior Court from 2000 to 2002.
