Clarissa Gomez '14, interning at Bristol-Meyers Squibb
As part of our continuing series, Summer Work, Clarissa Gomez '14 writes from her current position …
“This summer I am a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Internship program at the pharmaceutical company, Bristol-Myers Squibb. I serve as the intern for the U.S. Regulatory and Commercialization as well as the Litigation departments. It was quite an easy decision for me to make in accepting this position, as it was my number one choice of what I wanted to do this summer.
“As an intern, I get to experience the day-to-day activities of in-house counsel, which is such a unique opportunity. I am able to gain exposure to not only the various key players within the company and the driving forces behind the different departments within the company, but also I interact with the company's outside counsel and its international subsidiaries.
“I have always known that I wanted to specialize in health law, and am pursuing the Health concentration at Seton Hall. Last summer, I interned for legal services and thus gained exposure to the non-profit aspect of health care and its interaction with the law; I have now been able to gain an inside look at the corporate side of health. Though I am unsure of ultimately what aspect of health law I would like to pursue as a career, participating in the program has enforced my desire to pursue this field.”
