Strong Employment Outcomes for Class of 2014

High employment rates, rising U.S. and World Report rankings and bar passage rates above state averages reflect a multi-faceted approach to ensuring students’ career success

As required by the American Bar Association, Seton Hall Law submitted employment data for the Class of 2014 on April 7. With the entire class of 285 graduates reporting, 93.33% were employed within 10 months of graduation.

“Our employment rates for the Class of 2014 nearly reach our historic highs” commented Dean Patrick E. Hobbs. “I believe our excellent employment outcomes are not just a sign of better times. They speak to the value employers place on a Seton Hall Law degree.”

Within the Class of 2014, 83.5% are in jobs in which passage of the bar exam is required, or a J.D. degree is an “advantage.” 72.3% of all graduates are in full-time, long-term jobs in which bar passage is required.

Seton Hall Law’s excellence is also reflected in other metrics:

  1. U.S. News and World Report ranked Seton Hall Law #63 among the 200 law schools in the nation.
  2. U.S. News and World Report ranked Seton Hall Law’s Health Law Program #7 in the nation, the 19th year in the Top 10.
  3. July 2014 bar pass rates exceeded state averages in both New Jersey and New York. 83.69% of Seton Hall Law students passed the New Jersey bar exam, as compared to a state average of 77.80%. Likewise, 86.7% of Seton Hall Law students passed the New York bar exam, as compared to a state average of 74%.

“We’ve achieved these outcomes through a multifaceted approach,” Dean Hobbs concluded. “We combine a curriculum that puts the focus both on building legal skills while mastering legal theory; an emphasis on hands-on learning through externships, clinics and pro bono internships; and stellar support services through our Office of Career Services. Together, these components result in career success for our graduates.”
