Take Back the Night

Take Back The Night: Wednesday, April 7th from 6-8PM

On Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 6-8pm, Seton Hall Law, in conjunction with Rutgers Law School- Newark , will hold its 3rd annual Take Back the Night event to raise awareness and speak out against violence and abuse. Gigi M. Scoles, Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor, Essex County, will be the keynote speaker.

Take Back The Night is an international event where individuals can raise awareness and speak out against violence and abuse in all its forms. This year, the focus of the event will be on the experience of the young professional community.

The event will begin at 6:00pm at Rutgers Law School-Newark (123 Washington Street). A group of students will be leaving Seton Hall around 5:40 to walk over to Rutgers and the march will end on the Seton Hall Law School patio, where the Keynote Speaker, Gigi Scoles, as well as a number of faculty, students, and organization members will speak. There will also be an open mic session for survivors and supporters, followed by a candlelight vigil. After the program, there will be a reception in the Atrium where students can meet representatives from organizations that provide legal and psychological services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Many of these organizations work with the Seton Hall Law pro bono program and offer opportunities for students to volunteer during the semester.

We ask that you take a brief moment to fill out our survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BJ6RGZC. Individual results will remain confidential. The cumulative results of the survey will be announced during the event.
