Student Writing Competition
Students are invited to submit papers that may, but need not, be related to our broad conference theme, Our Country, Our World in a “Post-Racial” Era. First and Second Place winners will be given the opportunity to present their papers at the National Conference, as guests of the Conference, and will be given a cash prize.
FIRST PLACE
- $1,000 Cash Award
- All Expense Paid Trip (airfare, hotel, registration) to the conference.
SECOND PLACE
- $500 Cash Award
- All Expense Paid Trip (airfare, hotel, registration) to the conference.
HONORABLE MENTION
- May be available for other meritorious submissions.
ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all current J.D. candidates in good standing enrolled in a law school located in the United States and its territories during the 2009-2010 academic year.
FORMAT: Each entry should be a scholarly piece fit for publication in a law review, and accommodate blind review. Preference will be given to entries of 25,000 words or less. Entries should follow standard footnote formatting, no smaller than 9-point font, and be submitted in English. The main text should be in 12-point font and double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides of each page. Published papers or papers already accepted for publication are ineligible. Only one paper per entrant will be considered.
SUBMISSION: Entries must be submitted electronically, in either Word or PDF format, on or before June 15, 2010, to Professor Andre Cummings, West Virginia University College of Law, andre.cummings@mail.wvu.edu.
