Melissa Marschner is currently a Staff Attorney with the Office of Counsel to the Administrative Director for the State of New Jersey Judiciary. In that role, she has acted as a litigator for the courts, prosecuting employee discipline and removal actions, representing management in labor arbitrations, and supervising superior court, supreme court and federal litigation matters involving the Judiciary or its employees. Currently, her role in Counsel’s Office is to act as corporate counsel and hearing officer for the Judiciary, state-wide. Her corporate counseling responsibilities include drafting agreements and advising Judiciary divisions on various topics, such as financial & business matters, privacy & public records, labor & employment, management & administration, and statutory compliance issues.

Following her graduation from Seton Hall School of Law cum laude in 1999, Ms. Marschner clerked for the Hon. G. Donald Haneke, U.S.M.J. She then worked as an Associate with Reed Smith LLP in their Princeton, New Jersey office, concentrating on financial services, consumer fraud, aviation, cybersmear/internet, and complex commercial defense in the context of state, federal, trial, appellate, class action and multi-district litigation settings.

In addition to her membership on the Alumni Council, Ms. Marschner serves as a Board of Trustee member for Princeton Pro Musica, is a volunteer lawyer for NJ Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, is a cantor and choir member at her church, and periodically performs in community theater.
