At Seton Hall Law, we believe it is important to provide students and alumni with one-on-one assistance and the resources to meet their personal and professional objectives. Here there is no single, one-size-fits-all strategy. Instead, we work with you each step of the way, along with offering a full slate of workshops, on-campus interviews, and career development programs, to help ensure you can meet your goals and fulfill your passion for the law.

MEET THE Office Career Services (OCS) STAFF

Sonia Cunha is the Director of Career Services, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the office as well as advising students and alumni with respect to their search for employment. She began her career at Seton Hall Law in 1986 and served as the Registrar and Bursar prior to joining the Office of Career Services in 2003. Sonia Cunha received her B.A. from Seton Hall University.

Michele Contreras Sadati is an Associate Director in the Office of Career Services. Following a summer associate position with Lowenstein Sandler PC, she returned to the firm as an Associate in the Litigation Department, where she specialized in commercial litigation, and employment law. At the firm, she also was active in the firm's recruiting efforts, participating in the summer associate program, on-campus interviews and job fairs. She joined the OCS office in 2005. Michele earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Colgate University and received her law degree, cum laude, from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, where she was a comments editor on the Women's Rights Law Reporter, and published a note on New York’s Mandatory HIV Testing of Newborns.

Stephanie Kauflin Petracca is Associate Director of Career Services and the Externship Administrator. Previously, Stephanie was an Associate in the Business and Finance Department of the law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where she practiced commercial real estate law. She joined the Office of Career Services in 2005 after having worked in the school’s Admissions office. Stephanie earned a B.S., with honors,from the University of Rhode Island, and is a magna cum laude graduate of Seton Hall Law, where she was a Comments Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review and published a comment on the regulation of dietary supplements.

Joseph LeVow Steinberg devotes most of his time in the Office of Career Services holding mock interview sessions with both current students and alumni to help prepare them for actual employment interviews; and advising and counseling alumni who are embarking on job searches both in the legal profession and in other fields. He also counsels current students at the Law School. He was with the law firm of Lowenstein Sandler PC for 49 years, and is still serves the firm in an "of counsel" position. While a partner of the firm he served as Chair of the Corporate Department and Head of the Real Estate Practice Group and chaired the Recruiting Committee, and also founded and Chaired the Associate Life and Training Committee. He teaches a seminar at the Law School entitled "New Jersey Land Use Practice." He earned A.B., magna cum laude from Harvard University, and his L.L.B., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.

James Andrews is the Associate Director for Government Employment and Public Service, assisting students who seek government employment, as well as those who wish to pursue internship and externship opportunities. As a Seton Hall Law student, Jim attended classes in the evening while working as a Special Agent in the New York Field Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), first with the Joint Organized Narcotics Task Force and then as a member of the Forfeiture Unit. Upon graduation from Seton Hall, and after 11 years with the FBI, Jim served as a judicial law clerk and then became a Deputy Assistant Attorney General with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, where he focused on Civil Remedies and Forfeiture. Jim then returned to the federal government, this time joining the New York Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a Special Agent focusing on Financial Investigations. He joined the Office of Career Services in 2008. In addition to his law degree from Seton Hall, Jim earned a B.A. from the University of South Florida and a second B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Madeleine Kurtz is the Associate Director of Public Interest, responsible for working with and supporting students interested in careers or opportunities in public interest law. Before coming to Seton Hall, Madeleine served as a consultant to Volunteers of Legal Services, a non-profit organization in New York City that develops and administers pro bono programs. Madeleine provided training and mentoring for lawyers from the private bar participating in the Incarcerated Mothers Law Project, which assists women who are incarcerated with visiting and other family-related issues. Prior to that, she was the Director of Pro Bono and Public Interest Programs at Rutgers-Newark Law School. From 1991-2003, she was a professor with the Family Defense Clinic at New York University School of Law, an interdisciplinary clinical program focusing on foster care and child welfare matters. Madeleine began her career with the Legal Aid Society Juvenile Rights Division in New York, and began teaching in the Lawyering Program at NYU. Madeleine joined the Office of Career Services in 2008. She earned her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

Maria Capra began her employment at Seton Hall Law in 1990 and has been with the Office of Career Services for 18 years.  As the Recruiting Coordinator, she is responsible for managing the Fall and Spring On-Campus/Resume Referral Interview Programs, the Judicial Clerkship Application process as well as many other projects. Maria is the liaison between students and employers.

Jackie Rivas joined the Office of Career Services as secretary in 2006.  She is currently responsible for scheduling appointments for counselors and interacting with students, alumni and employers. Jackie received her Associates Degree in Business Administration and is currently working towards her Bachelors Degree from Kean College.
