Students in the combined JD-MBA program spend their first year of study completing the regular first-year curriculum of the School of Law. During the second and subsequent years, students may complete the program by taking credits at both the School of Law and Stillman School of Business. The MBA Internship may be completed only after completion of a minimum of 18 credits of the Stillman School required courses.
To be admitted to the joint program, students must first be admitted to each of the individual programs by the Stillman School and the Law School.
As a general rule, students in the program must complete the first three semesters of their required courses at the law school. However, students with a GPA of 3.0 or greater may petition the Dean of Students at the law school to begin course work at the business school in their third semester. During the second year of the program, students may begin to integrate courses from the business core curriculum at the Stillman School into their studies. During the third and fourth years of the program, students take a mix of law and business courses to complete the requirements for graduation from both schools.
Due to scheduling considerations, only full-time law students are normally able to complete this program. Further details about admission to the program are available from either the law school Admissions Office or Ms. Joan Liljegren at (973) 761-9220, at the Graduate School of Business Admissions Offices.
