Seton Hall University School of Law is pleased to offer students the first and only American Bar Association (ABA) approved winter intersession study abroad program focusing on modern day slavery and human trafficking. The program will operate in Arusha, Bagamoyo, and Zanzibar, Tanzania for two weeks during the winter. The program began in the winter of 2007 and 52 law students from various countries participated. The winter of 2008 program enrolled 43 students. The 2009 program will run from December 21, 2009 to January 3, 2010, with an optional mainland safari from January 4 - January 9, 2010.
Students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of international and comparative law in a rich, diverse, and exciting academic and cultural environment while exploring the extraordinary history, sights, and beaches of Zanzibar. The optional safari will provide students and family with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Tanzania's spectacular game reserves. There is no other program of this kind offered by any American law school.
Distinguished international law faculty will present a cutting-edge two credit ABA-approved course on Slavery, Human Trafficking and the Law.
Students will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with prominent judges and lawyers working in the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda, located nearby in Arusha, Tanzania, and with Non-governmental organization representatives and United Nations personnel working to combat the twin scourges of modern day slavery and human trafficking.
A wonderful opportunity to study law and make a difference while enjoying the intoxicating ambiance of one of the world’s most exciting, historical, and mysterious island settings.
