Health Law Concentration
J.D. Program Health Law Concentration
Seton Hall University School of Law offers a Concentration in Health Law to J.D. students. The student pursuing a health concentration may focus on traditional health law, drug law or biotechnology law. Students increasingly integrate the health concentration with intellectual property courses.

Faculty advice is available to students considering the concentration, as well as to those already formally admitted to it. Students who successfully complete the concentration requirements will be permitted to so designate on their resumes. Concentration students will also receive a certificate after graduation.

- Successful completion of at least 13 credits in the following courses:
a) Health Law (3 credits);
b) Health Care Fraud and Abuse or Health Law Finance (2 credits);
c) Food and Drug Law (2 credits) or Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Marketing and Compliance (2 credits);
d) One health law seminar, in which the student must complete a paper that satisfies the Advanced Writing Requirement (AWR) (3 credits); and
e) Administrative Law (3 credits). - Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in the courses counted toward the concentration.
A student interested in pursuing the Health Law Concentration must "declare" his or her concentration by no later than the end of the first week of classes in the student's penultimate semester.
Externship Program
Seton Hall Law School's externship program offers J.D. health law students an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a health care setting. The externships also provide students with unparalleled opportunities to meet health care attorneys and providers who become a bridge to their career in health law.
Students pursuing the Health Law concentration are encouraged to consider doing an internship. However the externship is not a requirement for obtaining the concentration.
