Disclosure Statement
The Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law at Seton Hall Law School received $50,000 from Corporate Relations and Contributions, Roche, for its two-day Seton Hall Law Review Symposium, “Preparing for a Pharmaceutical Response to Pandemic Influenza.”
As an institution of higher learning, Seton Hall Law School advocates full disclosure regarding corporate and foundation contributions. As such, in accepting funds from Roche, the Law School agreed to the following:
- That any medical content of project materials or program communications needed to be independent, objective, and scientifically accurate,
- If the program should include any branded product references, it was requisite that our organization assures provision of relevant fair balance and full disclosure, and
- That the event focused on the United States.
The funding source for this Symposium was disclosed to all speakers whose presentations and remarks represent their own views and are not necessarily the views of Roche, Seton Hall Law School, or its faculty. Seton Hall Law School respects and encourages academic freedom and published papers and conference proceedings in the Symposium issue of The Seton Hall Law Review, distributed in 2009.
Funds were used only to offset some of the expenses associated with sponsoring this event, such as refreshments, publicity, parking, and the printing and distribution of The Seton Hall Law Review Symposium issue. Seton Hall Law thanks Roche for ensuring that all guests were admitted free of charge. The Law Review Symposium was open to students, faculty, attorneys, public health officials, government representatives, first responders, medical professionals, and any other members of the community interested in this topic.
