Clinical and Pro Bono Programs
Seton Hall Law also provides students with outstanding legal preparation through one of the most comprehensive clinical and pro bono programs offered by any New York metropolitan-area law school. The Center for Social Justice's clinical programs allow students to engage in a legal apprenticeship, representing real-life clients in cases with real-life outcomes. The clinics address topics such as immigration, human rights, community development, family law, and juvenile justice. Unlike many part-time jobs with private firms, the clinics enable students to work through all phases of cases from start to finish. Clinic participants perform legal duties such as interviewing and counseling clients, conferring with adversaries, taking depositions, conducting research, and participating in trials. Students acquire the practical skills, knowledge, and experience that both train them and make them more attractive to prospective employers.
