COMMUTING

Seton Hall Law School is located only 1½ blocks from Newark Penn Station. New Jersey Transit trains and buses, PATH trains, the Newark City Subway and AMTRAK trains all have regular service into Penn Station. Using public transportation to commute to school is very convenient and generally less expensive than driving.

Seton Hall Law School is also easily accessible by car.  Parking is available adjacent to the Law School at the Central Parking System garage located at 42 Mulberry Street, Newark. A limited number of monthly student rate passes are available. Please contact the garage management at 973-621-7466. Below is a list of other local area parking facilities.

A Shuttle Van Service is available from the Law School to local housing, train stations and other parking facilities from dusk until 1am.

NJ Transit Services and Trains – The Northeast Corridor, Raritan Valley, and North Jersey Coast train lines run regular service into Newark Penn Station. There are several towns along these train lines where students commonly reside. All other train lines with service to Newark arrive at the Broad Street Station, which is approximately 10 blocks from the Law School. Trains run every 15 minutes into New York Penn Station, located in mid-town Manhattan. The NJ Transit website offers full train, bus and light rail schedules, including maps of NJ Transit train routes and more.

Seton Hall FULL-TIME STUDENTS are eligible for a 25% Discount on NJ Transit Monthly Passes for rail, bus and light rail.  To receive the 25% discount on monthly pases, students must enter the NJ Transit website via our LawNet Portal. For instructions on how to sign-up for the 25% NJ Transit Monthly Pass discount, click here.

In addition to signing up for the NJ Transit discount, students may obtain applications from any New Jersey Transit ticket office and must have the applications validated by the Registrar's Office before returning them back to NJ Transit.  For more inforamtion on the paper application, please contact the Registrar's office at 973-642-8502.

The Office of the Dean of Students has schedules of both the NJ Transit and PATH train routes available for you to view.


ADDITIONAL COMMUTING OPTIONS

NJ Transit Bus Service - Buses from Newark Penn Station are available to various destinations throughout New Jersey. Schedules are available on the New Jersey Transit website or at the Office of the Dean of Students, 973-642-8707.

NJ Transit Airport Services - Train service is available to Newark Liberty International Airport from Penn Station.

PATH - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operates trains servicing Newark, Harrison, Hoboken, Jersey City and New York. Trains arrive and depart Newark Penn Station approximately every 10 minutes during regular hours.

Amtrak Train Service - Amtrak train service is available to Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C and other destinations on the east coast.

Shuttle Van Service - Van service is supplied for transportation from the Law School to local train stations, local housing, and local parking areas. The vans run from dusk until the library closes, leaving the front of the law school as needed. Students may request van service from the security desk.


PARKING

There are many area parking lots around the Law School. Each is independently owned and operated.  Below is a list of some of those lots and their current rates. Generally, it is more economical to pay for parking on a monthly basis. Daily parking rates range from $8 - $15. Monthly parking rates range from $135 - $195.  

Central Parking System lot adjacent to the Law School. 42 Mulberry Street, Newark. 973-621-7466; a limited number of monthly student rate passes are available. Please contact the garage management at the number listed. Monthly parking passes: $195 per month and $135 per month for Evening Students after 4 pm, plus a one time $20 Activation Fee. 

Prudential Center Arena Parking Deck - Dean Hobbs has worked out an arrangement exclusive to Seton Hall Law students with the Prudential Arena/New Jersey Devils.  For $50/month plus a one time $25 deposit for an access pass that will be refunded upon its return, you can park at their parking deck located on Lafayette Street between Broad Street and Mulberry Street, on the same side as the arena.  There are some conditions, such as you must leave by 5:30 pm on event nights or be charged the event price, but if you are interested you can reserve a pass by signing up at the Arena parking deck.

Central Parking System located on 101 Mulberry Street 973-242-7054; DAILY PARKING ONLY $195 a month and $9/day before 10A.M., $18/day aftr 10A.M.

Don Pepe's Parking on route 21, across the street from the Law School 973-623-4662; student rate is $140/month. Lot also available at 186 Mulberry Street for $85, but students must leave lot by 6:30pm on event night for the Mulberry Street Lot.  Cash or check only.

Edison Parking Systems - The garage (located at 45-53 Park Place) is $99/month for the first three months, then $125/month.  If two students buy a pass at the same time $99/month for the first 6 months and then $125/month.  The lots (located closer to the law school) are $125/month.  973-643-4700

Renaissance Towers located on Mulberry Street, between Raymond Boulevard and Market Street 973-643-3023; Discount monthly rate of $165 for students.  

Star Parking located at 25 Edison Place, between Broad Street and Mulberry Street. Open seven (7) days per week and they can be contacted at 973-642-3700. Attended Hours are on non-event nights, Monday through Saturday. Daily rate is $7/day; Monthly rate for students: $85; Coupons also available and can be obtained directly from Star Parking. Note: On nights where there is an event at the Prudential Center, students must exit the lot by 6:00 PM.  No exceptions or must pay full event rate.
