Insurance

The state of New Jersey requires all full-time students attending an institution of higher education in the state to be covered by health insurance. All law students registered for 9 or more credits will be automatically provided with Accident and Illness Insurance. Students will be billed for this insurance, along with tuition, each semester. The Aetna Policy Brochure on the insurance plan is available online or at the Office of the Dean of Students located on the 3rd Floor.

Seton Hall University requires all students who are covered by another health insurance plan to complete a waiver form indicating other coverage. Once this form is submitted, the bursar will adjust the student's bill accordingly. Only one waiver is required per academic year.  To submit a waiver, sign in to PirateNet and access Banner Self-Service by click on the "My Info" tab.

Students in need of health insurance after the beginning of the academic year due to a change in circumstances may enroll by submitting a "Request for Student Health Insurance Coverage" form to the Registrar's Office. Upon payment for the health insurance, the student will be immediately enrolled.

Law students who are residents of states other than New York, New Jersey or Oregon may also obtain a policy through the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association.

Any questions or concerns regarding student health insurance please contact the Office of Student Services at 973-642-8707.
