At the Heart of Things
Newark, New Jersey

Rich in history and culture, Newark is a city to explore.  Whatever your interest, you'll find it here -- the performing and visual arts, sports, great food, captivating architecture are all within easy reach.  Located just blocks from Seton Hall, you'll also find the Ironbound district, a richly populated ethnic community.

When it comes to housing, your options are equally extensive.  Within Newark itself, you have the nearby historic Union Building, the Renaissance Building and the newly renovated art deco ELEVEN80 apartment complex.  The city's celebrated brownstones also are a must see.  In addition, Seton Hall Law has created an alliance with Clinton Street Lofts, LLC, which provides students with the opportunity to rent luxurious and affordable apartments within a five-minute walk from the Law School.  With its expansive network of train lines, Newark also is within easy reach of New York City, Hoboken, Jersey City and the suburban communities of Belleville, Nutley, Montclair and South Orange to the north, and Cranford, Garwood, Roselle Park and Westfield to the south.

To simplify matters, Seton Hall Law provides a free, online listing service and roommate resource database.  Admitted students can fill out a roommate request form online and search the database to find other incoming students interested in sharing an apartment.  The Office of Student Services maintains current apartment listings, local newspapers, realtor references, apartment guides, mass transportation maps and schedules to help you find the location best suited for you.

Seton Hall is a block from Newark's Penn Station, where a 20-minute train ride takes students to Manhattan and the world's largest law firms.  Seton Hall law students can walk to Newark's major law firms, government agencies and the federal and state courthouses.

Public transportation allows students fast, convenient access to New York City, Hoboken, Jersey City and other urban communities.  The mountains and the Jersey Shore are only a short drive from Newark.
