Frequently Asked
Questions
What
Is Unrestricted vs. Restricted Giving?
Unrestricted
gifts
are especially valuable to Seton Hall Law School because
they allow your money to be used where
it is needed most. Unrestricted
funds also provide the resources to cover the cost of
educational programs, scholarships and activities that are
not entirely financed by other support or revenues.
It aids in the school having to rely less on tuition
dollars and more on monies generated from other sources.
Restricted
gifts
benefit specific departments or programs
chosen by the donor. Funds may be designated to any of
Seton Hall Law School's activities that are of particular interest to
the donor -- such as the Center for Social Justice, Health
Law and Policy Program, Student Aid, Institute of Law,
Science & Technology, LEO/Academic Support and Evening
Students.
Why
would I make a restricted gift?
You may
want to give a gift in memory or in honor of a loved one or a
favorite professor in the form of an endowed scholarship naming opportunity.
If, for example, you had an incredible experience working with
the Center for Social Justice or you want to help fund the
continued development of the Health Law & Policy program, then
making a
restricted gift would be appropriate for you.
Why is
the Law School Annual Fund unrestricted?
By maintaining the
Law School Annual Fund as an unrestricted fund, Seton Hall Law School is able to use the money in ways that
most benefit the law school, its programs and its student
body.
