Joseph Steinberg joined the Career Services Offices staff in February 2004 as he was beginning the process of
retiring from Lowenstein Sandler PC, the firm where he had been a senior partner and chair of its real estate
practice group. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, his practice areas also included land
use, banking law, secured transactions, corporate law and litigation. He also served as chair of the firm's
corporate department. During both the early and late stages of his 44 year tenure with the firm he served as
the chair of the recruiting committee, interviewing hundreds of students both on campus and at his firm. In
2000 he formed and served as the first chair of the firm's Associate Life and Training Committee which involved
itself in mentoring, associate evaluation, continuing legal education and orientation and integration issues.
Joe has been active in community work on behalf of the New Jersey Association on Correction, The Harvard Club
of New Jersey, the Harvard Alumni Association, the American Jewish Committee and Temple Sinai in Summit, New
Jersey. He also serves as a member of the Millburn Township Zoning Board of Adjustment. A long-time resident
of Short Hills, he has three grown children, including a daughter who is
a litigator with a Boston law firm.
Joe will be available three days a week during term-time and on appointment during the summer months. He will
serve as a career counselor and will be available for mock interviews, career planning sessions and for
resume and writing sample reviews and critiques.
