Writing Samples

The writing sample you choose to provide to potential employers can impress them or ruin your chances at an offer. Be sure to provide a sample on which you have received a B or better or has gone out to a client or partner. You should have your writing sample reviewed before you send it out. OCS is more than happy to do this for you, but OCS cannot either re-write it or check the substantive content. Discussing your sample with the professor or attorney for whom you wrote it is also helpful.

The best advice most upper-class students provide to first years' about their writing samples is to make sure to put your best effort into "Legal Research and Writing." Putting in that effort will get you a good grade (sometimes the only grade a potential employer might look at) and provide you with a first-rate writing sample to use in your future employment search.
