conferences, and career fairs
throughout the year. Faculty, administrators,
and students host forums on a wide range of
issues.

interested in exploring careers in public interest
law.

Center for Social Justice |
|
Overview:
Our exciting clinical programs are housed
in the
Center for Social Justice.
Programs include Civil
Litigation, Family Law, Immigration and Human
Rights Law, Impact Litigation, Juvenile
Justice, and Immigrant Workers' Rights. The Center
also hosts International
Human Rights/Rule of Law and Urban
Revitalization Projects.
The Center offers a range of opportunities to
students, including for-credit positions in each
clinical program, internships during the school
year and summer, which can be for pay, and
externship and pro bono opportunities.
Eligibility:
Eligibility varies for each student position in
the Center.

Internships |

Overview:
Students interning in non-profit and government
agencies obtain invaluable educational
experiences, attaining substantive and practical
knowledge in the field. We encourage students to take
part in internships during the school year and
during breaks.
Eligibility:
Eligibility is determined by individual
agencies.

Externships |

Overview:
The
Externship Program
enables students to obtain both academic credits
and hands-on legal experience working for
non-profit or governmental agencies. Students in
the Externship Program are required to work in
the field for at least 150 hours per semester;
other requirements apply and can be found on the
Externship website linked above. All externs must
be
supervised by an attorney.
Eligibility:
Students must complete all first-year courses
before commencement of an externship with at
least a 2.6 G.P.A. Some externships impose
additional requirements.

Pro Bono |

Overview:
The
Pro Bono Program
enables students to gain
legal knowledge and practical skills serving
non-profit organizations and government
agencies. Students in the Pro Bono Program are
required to perform at least 35 hours of work
per semester. Students completing the Program
receive notations on their transcripts and
recognition at commencement.
Eligibility:
All students are eligible for the Pro Bono
Program, including first-year students.

Overview:
The law school provides Public Interest Summer
Fellowships to students interning during the
summer for non-profit or governmental
organizations serving underrepresented
populations. Summer fellows must be
supervised by an attorney.
Students can also apply for other fellowship
opportunities, including Equal
Justice Works Summer Fellowships.

Eligibility:
A student must complete a fellowship application
to be eligible for consideration for a Public
Interest Summer
Fellowship.

Loan
Repayment Assistance |

Overview:
Seton Hall University School of Law provides
loan repayment assistance to qualifying
graduates. Graduates may receive up to $10,000
per year in loan repayment assistance for six
years.
