ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
awards $5,000 annually to entering first
year student(s) attending an ABA-accredited
law school. The mission of the Legal
Opportunity Scholarship Fund is to encourage
racial and ethnic minority students to apply
to law school and to provide financial
assistance to ensure that these students
have the opportunity to attend law school
for three years. Scholarship applicants are
also evaluated on the basis of financial
need, personal, family, and educational
background, personal statement, and
participation in community service
activities. A total of twenty awards will be
made to entering first-year students and may
be renewable for two additional years for a
total award of $15,000. Seton Hall Law
School will provide a matching scholarship
for students who receive this scholarship. Interested applicants may

Columbian Foundation Scholarship
The Columbian Foundation,
a non-profit organization founded in 1941 by
business and professional men of Italian
descent, awards two $2,000 scholarships
annually to entering students of Italian
descent. |

| Andrew
B. Crummy Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Andrew B. Crummy
by the law firm of Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan,
Griffinger, and Vecchione. Annual individual
awards range from $3,000 to $5,000 and are
awarded to one or more second-or third year
students who qualify. The Office of
Financial Resource Management will post the
application deadline, typically in November, at the time of
availability. |

| Ricardo
Esquivel Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of law Professor
Ricardo Esquivel, the Esquivel Scholarship
is available to active student members of
the Latino American Law Students Association
(LALSA). The scholarship is awarded based on
need and academic excellence. Awards range
from $500 to $1,000 annually. A separate
application is required by the posted
deadline. |

Hon. John F.
Gerry Memorial Scholarship |
Judge John F. Gerry was
appointed to the United States District
Court for the District of New Jersey by
President Gerald R. Ford in 1974. Recognized
for his humanitarianism and integrity, Judge
Gerry became the District Court’s Chief
Judge in 1987, and served in this position
until October 1994. The Camde n County Bar
Foundation established the John F. Gerry
Memorial Scholarship in 2002 as a tribute to
this popular and respected longtime public
servant.
A minimum $1,000 scholarship is awarded
annually to law students who exemplify the
ideals held by Judge Gerry, and have a
commitment to public service. Candidates for
the Judge Gerry Scholarship must be
currently enrolled in a New Jersey law
school, demonstrate academic achievement and
genuine financial need, and exhibit a
history of public service and/or a desire to
work in public service law.

| Matthew
F. Hayes Scholarship
In memory of her husband, Theresa Hayes
established the Matthew F. Hayes Memorial
Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded
annually to the two students with the
highest Grade Point Averages during the
spring semester in the day and evening
divisions, respectively, and who have
demonstrated need. Awards range between $750
to $1,000 annually. |

Kaplen Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is
awarded to four students who have
successfully completed the summer Legal
Education Opportunities (LEO) Institute for
educationally disadvantaged students with
outstanding academic performance. The
first year award amount of $5,000 is
renewable at $20,000 for the second and
third year providing the student maintains a
3.00 GPA. |

Joseph P. Lordi Memorial Scholarship
The Joseph P. Lordi
Scholarship, in honor of the late Joseph P.
Lordi, is awarded to an incoming, first-year
Seton Hall Law student who demonstrates
exceptional financial need and academic
excellence. The Lordi Scholarship is
renewable for the second year of the
program, based on the achievement of a 3.2
cumulative grade point average. The Lordi
Scholarship is awarded to a student who has
been identified as a Seton Hall Law Merit
Scholar. Applications for this scholarship
will be mailed to potential candidates that
are identified by the Law School Admissions
Committee. The Miele Foundation will
interview selected candidates and award the
Lordi Scholarship. |

The Lloyd M. Johnson (LMJ), Jr. Scholarship
Program
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association,
together with the United Negro College Fund,
has initiated the LMJ Scholarship Program
for students planning to enter law school
in the fall of 2007 . The
scholarship program will provide 10
fellowships at $10,000 per year for up to
three years. Three runner-ups will also
receive a one-time gift of $10,000.00 for
their participation in the application
process.
The applicant must demonstrate high academic
achievement during his/her undergraduate
career, community service and leadership
qualities, have an interest in diversity,
have an interest in corporate law, and be
financially disadvantaged.
The deadline for
applications is June 1, 2007.

The Maria E. Cona/Miele Scholarship
The Miele Foundation provides scholarship
assistance each year to an incoming
full-time Seton Hall Law student that
demonstrates exceptional financial need and
academic excellence. The Cona/Miele
Scholarship is renewable for the second and
third years of the program, based on the
achievement of a 3.0 cumulative grade point
average at the end of each academic year.
The Maria Cona/Miele Scholarship is awarded
to a student who has been identified as a
Seton Hall Law Merit Scholar. Applications
for this scholarship will be mailed to
potential candidates that are identified by
the Law School Admissions Committee. The
Foundation will interview selected
candidates and award the Cona/Miele
Scholarship. |

J. Moore Memorial Scholarship
This is a full tuition scholarship for at
least one year awarded to a full-time
entering student. The student must
demonstrate financial need and academic
excellence. |

These associations offer scholarship
and/or loan assistance to law students. The
scholarships are awarded annually. The Office of Financial Resource Management

Diversity + Talent = Point Scholar
The Point Foundation is the national
non-profit foundation supporting academic
achievement in higher education among
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)
youth.
Students who will be enrolled in
undergraduate or graduate programs for the
2007-08 school year are eligible to apply
for the prestigious, multi-year scholarship.
The average scholarship award is
approximately $12,500. Point Scholars agree
to maintain a high level of academic
performance and to give back to the LGBT
community through completion of an
individual community service project. In
addition, scholars are matched with mentors
from the professional world through Point’s
formal mentoring program.
Point Scholars are chosen for their
proven leadership skills, excellent
scholastic achievements, involvement in the
LGBT community and financial need. All
applicants are evaluated on the totality of
their situation including, academic
accomplishments, financial, emotional and
social need, extracurricular activities,
personal circumstances and goals for the
future.
