Adjunct
Faculty Email and Network Accounts
Once an adjunct professor has completed all necessary HR forms, a Lotus Notes email account will automatically generate using the professor's 8 letter login code. This 8 letter login code (known as your "shortname") usually consists of the first 6 letters of your LAST name and the first 2 of your FIRST name. If your last name is less than 6 letters then use your entire last name and as much of your first name as needed to reach 8 letters. (Ex: SMITHJOE for Joe Smith). Your login code together with our email extension (SHU.EDU) forms your email address. (Ex. SMITHJOE@SHU.EDU ) Your 8 letter designation is also your Domino ID which is used to access email through our Blackboard Portal.
For those faculty without Blackboard access (meaning you are not currently teaching a course), please use this link to access your webmail
--> Webmail without Blackboard
If your email account is not active
by the time you start your semester (or a few weeks before), please
contact the Division of Legal Computing at 973-642-8017 or fill out
an online trouble ticket at our
virtual helpdesk.
This usually means that some of the necessary HR forms are not
complete.
Lotus Notes can be accessed through the Web by using the
Webmail link on our current homepage (or by clicking on the W in
SETON HALL LAW on our homepage) or by using the full Notes client.
When accessing
Webmail from home or offsite, please use Microsoft Internet
Explorer 6 or higher.
It is highly recommended that all
first time email users change their passwords to something more
private and easily remembered. All passwords must contain at least 5
letters or numbers, with no periods, commas, dashes, spaces or
obscure characters. Please note that your Webmail password and your
client password are two different passwords, so changing one
does not change the other. We recommend that you manually
synchronize both passwords so that they are more easily remembered.
A Novell network account, however, is not automatically
created for adjunct faculty and must be requested by contacting the Division of Legal Computing at x8017 or
filling out an on-line request using our
virtual helpdesk. Network accounts can usually be
created the same day using your same 8 letter login code.
Adjunct professors with Novell network logins can access the faculty network on PC located in the law library or student labs. Please make
sure that the network pointer for your login is entered as
SHLS-FACULTY.
Adjunct faculty with laptop computers and wireless are encouraged to use them in the law building whenever possible. Please contact the Division of Legal Computing to configure your laptop to our wireless network.
