Using Lotus Notes Through Microsoft Outlook - IMAP
| Your SHU Lotus Notes email account can
be accessed through Microsoft Outlook but certain steps must be
taken first to convert your account into a format Outlook can read,
and then Outlook must be configured to download your SHU mail.
Please follow the process below: |

| 1. Request an
IMAP Conversion on your SHU Account
From your current SHU email account, send an email
to helpdesk@shu.edu or call
x2222 (that's 973-761-9000, x2222 from outside the law school) and
request that your SHU email account be converted for IMAP Outlook use. Use
the phrase "Convert my account to IMAP" and a service request ticket will be created for you in the
University IT tracking system. It will then be forwarded to a systems technician and an IMAP conversion will
be run on your account. The whole process should take up to 48
hours, depending on the volume of requests... |

2. Meet the Prerequisites for Local Outlook - Make sure you know the following: a. You are running Outlook Express 6.0 |

3. Configuring Outlook - Once the IMAP conversion is complete please follow the steps below to configure Outlook to accept SHU mail... a.

Outlook or Outlook Express i.
In the “Account Name” section, enter your account

| Please remember that your outgoing server can change depending on your location, so if you are loading this on a laptop you may need to switch between your ISP's outgoing server and the law school's outgoing server of smtp.shu.edu... or make an entry for both possibilities... | |
