NEWARK, N.J. Students, faculty and staff at Seton
Hall University School of Law this week sent a check
to the
American Red Cross, totaling $6,953.97, to
provide additional assistance to those struck by the
impact of Hurricane Katrina.
The money was raised through donation jars and bake
sales managed by students in conjunction with the
Law School Student Bar Association (SBA) over an
eight-day period. We needed to do something so we
created a poster board and started collecting in the
school atrium, says Andrea DeChellis, a second-year
student who initiated the drive with Upneet Teji,
treasurer of the SBA. What was so heartwarming is
that many times people would come up give $10 and
take just a single cookie.
Shortly after the hurricane struck, the Law School
also opened its doors to students from Loyola and
Tulane universities displaced by the disaster. A
total of 10 students from those universities are
enrolled at Seton Hall Law this semester.
The only private law school in New Jersey, Seton
Hall University School of Law was founded in 1951,
and is located in the city of Newark.
Seton Hall Law
School offers both day and evening programs leading
