Seton Hall University School of Law Students
Presented with Joseph P. Miele Foundation Scholarships

Newark, N.J. – The Joseph P. Miele Foundation recently presented scholarships to two students who will be attending Seton Hall University School of Law starting this fall.

Tara Touloumis of Cranford was presented with a $24,000 Maria E. Cona-Miele Scholarship from the Joseph P. Miele Foundation to be awarded in $8,000 increments over a three-year period. Touloumis will be receiving her B.A. in English and Politics from Fairfield University this month.

Katherine Planer of Cranford was presented with a $10,000 Lordi Scholarship from the Joseph P. Miele Foundation, payable in $5,000 increments in her first two years. Planer will be receiving her B.A. in History and Liberal Arts from The College of New Jersey this month.

The Maria E. Cona-Miele scholarship is named after Joseph P. Miele’s mother, one of the first women in New Jersey to receive a law degree and a strong advocate for education. The Maria E. Cona-Miele scholarship is awarded each year based on need and academic excellence to a student who has been identified as a Seton Hall Law Merit Scholar.

The Joseph P. Lordi Memorial Scholarship was founded in recognition of the late Joseph P. Lordi – a mentor of Joseph P. Miele – who served as Essex County Prosecutor and the first chairman of New Jersey’s Casino Control Commission. The Joseph P. Lordi Memorial Scholarships are awarded each year to students based on need, undergraduate academic excellence and community involvement.

The only private law school in New Jersey, Seton Hall University School of Law was founded in 1951, and is located in the city of Newark. Seton Hall Law School offers both day and evening programs leading to the Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Master of Science in Jurisprudence (M.S.J.) degrees.
