Newark, N.J. -- Krista
Gundersen, of South Plainfield, and Vanessa Campagna,
of Staten Island, New York, both third-year law
students at Seton Hall University School of Law,
defeated Northern Kentucky School of Law to win the
National Child Welfare & Adoption Law Moot Court
Competition held at Capital University Law School in
Columbus, Ohio on Feb 15-17, 2007.
The competition consisted of 23 law school teams
from across the country. As National Champions,
Gundersen and Campagna were both awarded $500. In
addition, the team was awarded “Best Brief” in the
competition. During the Final Round of the
competition, Gundersen also was named “Best Oralist.”
Third-year students Matthew Moench, of Bridgewater,
and Lucinda McLaughlin, of Glen Ridge, also
represented Seton Hall Law School at the
competition. McLaughlin was honored for “Best
Preliminary Round Oralist,” placing seventh out of
approximately 60 oral advocates.
Each of the students is a member of the
Interscholastic Moot Court Board at Seton Hall
School of Law, an organization dedicated to
competing in appellate moot court competitions
around the county. The teams were coached by Seton
Hall Law School graduates and veteran board members
Erin Scanga, Esq., from McElroy, Duetsch, Mulvaney
and Carpenter, LLP, and Jason Santarcangelo, Esq.,
from Dines & English. The board is directed by
Professor Jodi Anne Hudson, Esq.
The only private law school in New Jersey, Seton
Hall University School of Law was founded in 1951,
and is located in the city of Newark. Seton Hall Law
School offers both day and evening programs leading
to the Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Laws (LL.M.)
and Master of Science in Jurisprudence (M.S.J.)
