Newark, NJ – Seton Hall University School of Law,
along with the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on
Women in the Courts and The National Association of
Women Judges, District 3, will host an International
Law Judges Forum at Seton Hall Law on Tuesday, Nov.
6.
Judges from around the world will attend the forum,
featuring a panel of four judges from the highest
courts in Nepal, Taiwan, Ukraine and Korea.
Kristen Boon, associate professor of law at Seton
Hall Law, who will serve as moderator, explained
that the forum will offer law students, practicing
attorneys, judges and others insight into the
intricacies of other legal systems. The session also
will address the process of becoming a judge.
“Early in their careers, many of today’s lawyers are
finding that they have to handle cases or deals that
cross legal borders, “said Boon. “As part of a
comprehensive legal education, law students need to
be exposed to and provided with a knowledge of
judicial systems beyond our own borders.”
The forum will take place from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in
the Seton Hall Law School auditorium. A reception
will follow. The session is open to the public, but
reservations are strongly encouraged.
