SETON HALL LAW STUDENTS BRING HOME AWARDS DURING FINAL
MOOT COURT COMPETITION WEEKEND
Team Finishes Season with 27 Awards, a Record for the School Final Victories at ABA and Brooklyn Law School
 

Newark, N.J. - The Seton Hall School of Law Interscholastic Moot Court Board earned three more awards over the April 4, 2008 weekend, bringing their semester total to 23, and the 2007-2008 academic year total to 27 – a record for Seton Hall’s Board.

Third-year students Nicole Gerritsen, of Jefferson Township, and Michael Yellin, of Westport, Connecticut, finished as national semifinalists in the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition. This competition, focused on issues of immigration law and included 179 teams nationwide. During the Regional and National Rounds, Seton Hall competed against teams from Penn State, Harvard, Duke, Indiana, Regent and McGeorge; Memphis won the National Semifinal Round. Michael Yellin was ranked in sixth place nationally among Best Preliminary Round National Oralists. The team was coached by Melissa Natale, Esq. and Victor Afanador, Esq.

Congratulations are also in order to third-year students Michael Carucci, of Lyndhurst, and Michael Pastacaldi, of Jersey City, for their second place finish at Brooklyn Law School's Prince Evidence National Moot Court Competition, in which they vied against 38 teams nationwide. The team competed in six rounds of competition against such law schools as Wiliam & Mary, Michigan State and Southwestern; Campbell University School of Law took the lead in the Final Round. The team was coached by Martin Foncello, Esq. and Nicole Dyer, Esq.

The Interscholastic Moot Court Board is run under the direction of Professor Jodi Anne Hudson. Ms. Hudson also serves in an Of Counsel capacity at Connell Foley LLP.
