Seton Hall Law School Students Make Their Mark in Moot Court Competitions
Earned Eight Awards and Honors in Three National Competitions
 

Newark, N.J. - The Seton Hall University School of Law Interscholastic Moot Court Board began the spring season of competition the weekend of February 8, 2008, earning eight awards in three national competitions.

Third-year students James Leavy, of Union, Cristina Martinez, of Metuchen, and Gary Tulp, of Toms River, finished First and won the award for Best Brief in the East Regional of the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition. The competition, which focused on trademark law, fielded 13 teams. Seton Hall will travel to Washington, D.C. on March 22 to compete in the National Final Four of the Lefkowitz competition. The team was coached by Daniel Ritson, Esq., and Greg Kohn, Esq.

Third-year students Erica Darpino, of Edison, and Robert Flanagan, of Somerset, finished in Second Place and won an award for Third Distinguished Brief at Whittier Law School's Juvenile Law National Moot Court Competition. The team was coached by Kelly Caputo, Esq., and Peter Kurdock, Esq.

Third-year students Matt Schoen, of Hoboken, and Sean Mulryne, of New Egypt, finished as Semifinalists and won an award for Best Respondent’s Brief at Charleston School of Law's Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. Schoen and Mulryne were joined by third-year students Neeraj Joshi, of Montville, and Justin Talley, of Overland Park, Kansas, who also finished as Semifinalists. Justin Talley was awarded Best Preliminary Round Oralist honors. The team was coached by Kristin Muir, Esq., and Paul Werner, Esq.

The Interscholastic Moot Court Board operates under the direction of Professor Jodi Anne Hudson. Ms. Hudson also serves in an Of Counsel capacity at Connell Foley LLP.
