NEWARK, N.J. – The Women’s Law Forum (WLF) of Seton
Hall University School of Law will present its
annual “Woman of Substance” Award this year to New
Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram. The award
ceremony will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 4 p.m.
in the Law School auditorium. A reception will
follow.
Anne Milgram was sworn in as New Jersey’s 57th
Attorney General on June 29, 2007 after she was
nominated by Gov. Jon S. Corzine and unanimously
confirmed by the State Senate. Prior to that, she
had been serving as the First Assistant Attorney
General, a position she held for 17 months. As the
state’s chief law enforcement officer, Milgram heads
the 9,600-person Department of Law and Public
Safety, one of the largest agencies in New Jersey
state government.
The Woman of Substance Award each year honors a
woman who has dedicated her career to the
improvement of the law or legal system. In receiving
this honor from the WLF, Anne Milgram joins the
ranks of other Women of Substance recipients,
including Anne Thompson, Justice of the New Jersey
District Court; and Deborah Poritz, former Chief
Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
The award ceremony is free and open to the public.
