Students are assigned to one of three attorney-supervised
teams. Initially, students observe staff attorneys as they
investigate and process unfair labor practice (ULP) and
representation cases. If a representation hearing or ULP trial
occurs during their work time, students are encouraged to attend
to the extent they have time to do so. Once properly trained,
students will be assigned to assist attorneys by interviewing
witnesses, taking affidavits, researching legal issues and
attending and participating in decisional agendas with the
Regional Attorney and Regional Director. Students may be
assigned their own ULP cases depending on the availability of
appropriate cases. They also may participate in conducting a
NLRB representation election on the premises of an employer.
Students are closely mentored by experienced staff attorneys at
all times.
