INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS EXTERNSHIP (EXTN9177)
2 credits.
Prerequisites: Minimum Cumulative 3.00 GPA, Public International Law.
The International Organization's externship program is a two
credit offering that places a maximum of two students in an
international organization each semester. Such organizations
would be limited to Public International Organizations such as
the United Nations, Permanent Missions to the United Nations and
NGO Organizations with Consultative Status to the United
Nations. Extern responsibilities include a significant amount of
research and analytical writing, focusing on international law
issues. Appropriate students will be accredited and thus have
full access to the premises of the United Nations. Students will
also be required to attend six hours of classroom instruction
during the semester. Students are required to work a minimum of
180 hours. At the end of their externships, students must submit
to the faculty director a written product, of approximately 30
pages, that is substantially their own.
For more information, please see Professor Elizabeth Defeis.
This externship is graded on a Pass/D or Fail basis.
NOTE: Four credit maximum for all externships.
