New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services
2 credits.
Prerequisites: Minimum 2.6 cumulative GPA; 3L; Health Law, Evidence, Constitutional Law.
Preferred Coursework/Experience: Administrative Law; Prior career in health service


Students would work at the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (“DHSS”), Senior Services and Health Systems Division, Long Term Care Systems Licensure, Office of Program Compliance (“OPC”). OPC is responsible for all enforcement of state and federal regulatory requirements in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, comprehensive personal care homes and adult/pediatric medical day care facilities. Through the DHSS’s state licensure obligations, OPC is responsible for enforcement of licensure regulations promulgated by DHSS. Through an agreement with the Federal Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, OPC is responsible for enforcement of federal regulations governing Medicare/caid provider “conditions of participation,” as well.
