The IP Externship allows law students to work in a hands-on environment at the NJIT Technology Transfer Office and learn the fundamentals of intellectual property law in a very applied and practical manner. The office works primarily with patent issues, although there are occasional copyright and trademark matters that are also handled. The office focuses on determining the patentability of University owned intellectual property and assists in the patent prosecution process.
