Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office
Prerequisites: Minimum 2.6 cumulative GPA; Criminal Law; Legal Research and Writing
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office handles criminal matters in the Superior Court, Law Division, and Superior Court, Appellate Division. Student interns conduct research for the assistant prosecutors, write appellate briefs for submission to the Appellate Division, municipal appeal briefs for submission to the Law Division, and trial briefs regarding suppression matters and other issues. Student interns who have completed their second year of law school also argue municipal appeals under the supervision of an assistant prosecutor. Student interns are also encouraged to observe court matters such as trials, motions and sentencings.
