REGULATING RESEARCH WITH HUMAN SUBJECTS (HLTH9517)
3 credits. Seminar.
This seminar examines the legal, ethical and
public policy issues surrounding the use of human subjects in biomedical
research, focusing on current controversies and efforts to reform the
existing regulatory structure. The seminar begins with a historical examination
of human subject research, but the bulk of the semester is devoted to
critical analysis of the current system for overseeing human subject
research. Throughout the seminar we consider how the regulatory
system should take into account the changing relationship between academia,
industry and government. |
