POVERTY LAW (PRFM7011)
2 credits. Lecture.


This course helps students understand the forces that contribute to poverty in America, using legal, economic and sociological tools of analysis. It will explore in-depth those legal issues and concerns particular to poor persons, including: entitlement reform; consumer and energy law; veterans' law; youth and family law; health care reform; the medical treatment rights of older persons with disabilities; elderly housing; and farmworker law. This course will consist of a weekly discussion session and several "mock" debate exercises.
