TERRORISM AND CIVIL LIBERTIES (PUBR9178)
2 credits. Seminar.

This seminar will examine constitutional and other legal questions presented by important, recently adopted antiterrorism measures.  Measures that have been proposed but not adopted may also be studied.  Among the topics that will be considered are the use of military tribunals to try suspected terrorists, the detention without trial of enemy combatants, the closing to the public of certain deportation proceedings, and the use of electronic surveillance and the information that it yields.
