Receiving Credit: Our M.S.J. Students

M.S.J. Students May Receive Credit as well as a Certificate

In 2004, Seton Hall Law School launched an innovative Health Care Compliance Certification Program.  This four-day, full-time program for compliance and other pharmaceutical professionals, as well as attorneys, provides a grounding in health care fraud & abuse and an overview of laws governing the pharmaceutical & medical device industries.  To date, well over 400 individuals have completed this program, which has been held eight times over the past four years.

Faculty for this program include high-level government and private lawyers who are expert in pharmaceutical and device fraud and abuse issues.  A Health Law & Policy Program professor participates in each semi-annual session.  Attorneys may receive New York CLE credits for attending.

Health Care Certification Program Registration/Requirements (1 credit)
  • M.S.J. students will register for this course during course registration.  The Health Care Compliance Certification Program will be listed as a 1-credit course for M.S.J. students only and will include a course description.
  • Students who take this course will be graded on a pass/fail basis.  Attendance will be required, and students will complete a take-home exam at the conclusion of the program.  The exam will be created and graded by the Health Care Compliance Certification Program Director/Faculty Fellow.
  • In addition to receiving a grade, like other registrants, students will receive a certificate by mail following completion of the four-day program.
  • In order to register for credit, M.S.J. students must be matriculated students.  Applicants may register for credit if they apply to the M.S.J. Program, are admitted, and pay their deposit prior to registering for the compliance program.
  • The fee for this program is slightly higher than the usual 1-credit M.S.J. rate.  This is because meals, parking and educational materials are provided to all registrants.  In the 2007-08 academic year, students may register for $1,000.  (The non-student/non-alumni rate is $2,000.)  This rate is subject to change based on expenses associated with the program.
  • M.S.J. students should register for the Health Care Compliance Certification Program using the course registration services available through the Registrar's Office.  They should not register online via these compliance Web pages.
