Housing Accommodations

At Leuven: July 8-18, 2009

There are a variety of rooming arrangements at Leuven: one third are single, one third twin and the remaining third are duplex. All rooms have a bathroom en-suite with shower. The rooms also have telephones with direct dialing facilities, message recording and wake up call. Coin-operated laundry facilities are also available. In addition, meals in the program include breakfast and lunch. Vegetarian meals are available.

At NUI-Galway: July 18 - August 7, 2009

Dormitory-style standard room apartments are provided by the National University of Galway at the popular CorribVillage complex—a picturesque setting overlooking the river Corrib coupled with the enchantingly busy atmosphere of the Galway campus. Each apartment has a kitchen, equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, a bathroom and a cloakroom. The living /dining area is comfortable, complete with all-channel television, and contains one twin bedroom, with freshly laundered linen and duvets, and plenty of storage space. If saving money is on your agenda, you may also inquire about availability of the three bedroom standard apartments and four bedroom ensuite apartments.

Other facilities at Corrib include a reception building, café, shop crèche, laundry mat, and tennis courts. Residents of Corrib may also utilize the sports facilities at NUI including a multi-purpose sports hall, tennis and squash courts, all weather pitches plus a synthetic track. There is also a gymnasium, fitness center and health unit with saunas and changing rooms. NUI has agreed to make all of its facilities available to our students, and there is a complimentary shuttle bus that runs from Eyre Square to Corrib Village. Students may also stay off-site at their own expense. Registrants must indicate if you have any special needs for housing and other program services.

If you’re planning day trips, Corrib Village is a great place from which to begin visiting the scenic surroundings of Galway including Conemara, Inis Boffin Island, the Burren, the Ailwee Caves and the other sites. Students may request an extended stay at NUI at personal expense.
