The far-reaching Pro Bono Program is a
not-for-credit educational experience in which
many Seton Hall Law students volunteer as a
legal professional with an outside non-profit
organization. This program offers students an
opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience
while making a difference in the community.
Students at all levels of learning and
experience are encouraged to participate in
the Center for Social Justice's Pro Bono
Program. Students in the program donate a
minimum of 35 hours of their professional
time during a semester. Participation is noted
on the student's law school transcript, and
they receive special recognition at commencement.
Student volunteers have gained practical
experience while assisting hundreds of
disadvantaged people since the program was
initiated in 1988. Our students report that
their pro bono assignments have provided
invaluable practical experience as well as
tremendous personal satisfaction. Clients
express gratitude for the services they
receive, and our community has recognized
the important services we provide.
