Professor Philip A. Ross specializes in criminal and juvenile law. He received his B.A. from Seton Hall University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law. He currently works as a solo practitioner in Newark, New Jersey. An accomplished litigator, Professor Ross has argued landmark cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court concerning various criminal law issues, including interpretation of the New Jersey RICO statute, and trying defendants in absentia. Additionally, Professor Ross argued one of the first capital cases in the state. Professor Ross is a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Panel on the Rights of Children in New Jersey. He has appeared on CNN National Public Radio and the New Jersey Network "Due Process" series as an expert commentator in the areas of criminal and juvenile law. Professor Ross has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and the Director of Trial Practice in the Juvenile Justice Clinic at Seton Hall Law School since 1980. He has also served as Director of the Pro Bono Service Program since 1995.
