Program 10: INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC LAW

The global economy touches many aspects of daily life. A simple transaction such as buying imported fruit in a local market or the purchase of an automobile may involve two or more states. It is thus governed by both national and international rules and regulations. A body of international law is emerging to harmonize transborder economic transactions. In addition to international trade, the selling and the buying of goods across international borders, it covers foreign investment, areas of international monetary questions, intellectual property law, and new areas such as trade in services.

International monetary law; International commercial law; International trade law; Foreign direct investment; Regional arrangements.
