Program 2: STATES

States can be very large or very small. A state may be as large as China with a population of over one billion or as small as Nauru with a population of less than 10,000. But no matter how large or how small, at least in theory, all states are sovereign, equal an independent.

United Nations membership is open only to states. The sovereign equality of states is a fundamental tenet of its Charter.
