Biography

Professor Poirier received his B.A, magna cum laude, from Yale University, his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and his LL.M. from Yale Law School. In private practice as a partner with Spiegel & McDiarmid in Washington, D.C., he served as President of the Committee on Hydroelectric Regulation of the Federal Energy Bar Association. He has published in the areas of environmental law, environmental justice, property law and theory, coastal land use, gender discrimination, and law and sexual orientation. He joined the faculty in 1991.
