The Seton Hall Law
School Health Law & Policy Program (HeLPP)
offers an expansive and rigorous graduate education to those preparing to confront the health
care challenges of the next century. HeLPP offers
three health law
degree programs: a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a
concentration in health law; a Master of Science in
Jurisprudence (M.S.J.); a Master of Laws (LL.M.); and
two dual degrees with UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School, an M.D./J.D. and an M.D./M.S.J.
Seton Hall
University School of Law's health law graduate programs
are a key component of HeLPP. Seton Hall is the only law school in the
tri-state area offering an LL.M. in health law and the
only school in the northeastern region offering an M.S.J.
in health law. Seton Hall's expansive health law
curriculum is taught by an impressive group of academics and practitioners. The
faculty coordinates the curriculum to ensure
the quality of the total educational experience students
receive. The faculty members who
participate in the health law program are
student-centered, committing their time to thesis
supervision, placement advising, and general student
support.
With some exceptions,
students from all five programs are enrolled together
in the health law courses. This mix of
professionals with varied backgrounds contributes to sophisticated
classroom discussion that contends with the hard
realities of practice, the political process and
shrinking budgets. Students are graded
against their peers from their own program, not
students from other programs.
The health law student's education
extends beyond the classroom. Each year, HeLPP sponsors
many symposia and programs that expose our health law
students to renowned figures in health law, policy,
medicine and ethics.
A strong grounding in health issues from the legal and
public policy perspectives is essential to a career in
health care. Our graduate programs provide that
grounding to students with different backgrounds and
needs. We are dedicated to making Seton Hall
Law School the best place for the health professional or
lawyer preparing for the challenges of the next century.

"Participation in
the M.S.J. program was a tremendous experience for me.
As an M.S.J. graduate, I know that I have solid legal
foundation and that the education I received has allowed
me to be more effective in my job as a lobbyist on both
the federal and state levels. The faculty, staff
and facilities at the law school are all exceptional.
I would enthusiastically recommend the program to anyone
who is considering a formal legal education."

"Through Seton
Hall's Health Law and Policy Program, I was able to
obtain both academic and practical experience on
specific, cutting edge health law and policy issues.
My participation in the program, which included an
externship at Solaris Health System, substantially
facilitated my transition from a law student to a
practicing attorney in a national health law practice."

"As a practicing
lawyer, I have found the LL.M. program invaluable in
developing practical expertise in the health law field.
The program connects LL.M. candidates to a network of
diverse, like-minded professionals who are working in
health law areas from hospitals and health systems to
large pharmaceutical companies. The program is a
great way to expand your knowlege base and to
distinguish yourself among members of the bar."
