Student Portal - LawNet/PirateNet, Email, Courses, Personal Data

 

Seton Hall Law School provides all law students with access to our Student Portal (LawNet/PirateNet) to access important web-based resources such as Email (through Microsoft Live), course materials (Blackboard) and personal data (Banner). 

Accessing PirateNet/LawNet

To access LawNet/PirateNet, please go to our law school homepage http://law.shu.edu and click on the "Log In To LawNet" link at the top of the page.

At the LawNet/PirateNet Login page, enter your User Name and password...

User Name:
(Also known as your short name).  This is usually an 8 letter code consisting of the first 6 letters of your LAST name and the first 2 of your FIRST name. If your last name is less than 6 letters then you code is your entire last name and as much of your first name as you can until you reach 8 letters. (Ex: SMITHJOE for Joe Smith).  If your last and first name together do not consist of 8 letters, then use your entire last name and first name. (Ex. BELLJOE for Joe Bell).

Password:
Your first time password is a pattern consisting of the first 4 letters of your last name in Capital Letters, then the last 4 digits of you social security number, then the # sign. (Ex. BELL0000#).

Accessing Email Through LawNet/PirateNet - Microsoft Live

Once inside LawNet/PirateNet, click on the Outlook symbol Microsoft Labslocated on the upper toolbar in the middle of the page.  Complete the setup questionnaire with login code, password, secret password reset question and external email address (such as a Google or Hotmail account) and your email should appear.  The setup process you will only need to do once.  Your SHU Law email address is your first name, then ".", then last, @student.shu.edu.  (Ex. Joe.Bell@student.shu.edu).

Note: Your Seton Hall Law email account is yours indefinitely as it is actually a Microsoft account)but your LawNet/PirateNet portal account will expire 3-4 months after you graduate.  Please keep your MSN password in a safe location for use after graduation.

Accessing Course Materials through PirateNet/LawNet - Blackboard

Once logged into your LawNet/PirateNet portal account, you can reach your Blackboard account to access your courses and course materials.

Accessing Personal Data through LawNet/PirateNet

Once logged into your LawNet/PirateNet portal account, you may review and update your personal information (such as address, phone number, etc.), view class schedule as well as grades, holds, and Financial Aid and Bursar information.  This is where you can accept your financial aid awards. 

To access this information, you must first login to LawNet.  Then click the "My Info" tab, and then click "Banner Self Service"where you will find grades, holds, financial and to update personal information (such as address, phone, etc).

To locate Class Schedules, follow these steps (must be logged into LawNet):

  1. Click "myInfo" tab
  2. Click "Banner Self Service" (located in the "Banner Self Service" box) 
  3. Click "Student and Financial Aid"
  4. Click "Registration"
  5. Click "Review Detail Schedule and View/Buy Books"
