If you do not own a laptop or yours does not meet our specifications, we STRONGLY recommend you purchase a SHU Law DLC approved Lenovo laptop.
Why? Support... The Division of Legal Computing supports Lenovo laptops more extensively than other brands, including maintaining complete hard drive images. If your Lenovo system encounters a software problem and requires a re-image, our current images can be applied quickly. Other models and brands (such as Dell, HP, Apple, etc.) may require extensive rebuilding which cannot be performed by our department.
For Fall 2011 we selected the Lenovo T520, T420 and X220 models for our 15", 14" and 12.1" recommended laptops, but new 2012 models will be available soon. Once released and approved, our new 2012 models will be posted with system specifications, pricing and a link to the GovConnection SHU Law portal website where you can purchase. When purchasing Lenovo products also visit the Lenovo website as discounts and specials are continually being updated.
Remember, DO NOT BUY Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office for MAC or AntiVirus for your laptop!
The law school provides Microsoft Office 2010 , Microsoft Office for MAC and Microsoft Forefront AntiVirus free of charge! While your new laptop may arrive with only the basic Windows 7 and trial software, we can add our latest software package manually or through a download from our online Download Center.
