Laptop Requirements - Minimum specifications

All incoming SHU Law students are REQUIRED to possess a laptop that meets our minimum specifications and use it for various class purposes and all law school exams.  As the law school classroom experience integrates technology daily through our wireless network and all law school exams are taken using exam software, having and using a laptop is essential to a successful law school career.  As many students already own a laptop, please make sure yours meets our minimum specifications below and you should be ready for class.
 
MINIMUM Windows and Mac Laptop Specifications:
Please note that we do not officially recommend brands, only components.

Windows Laptops:
CPU:  Intel Core2 Duo 1.8gig or better, or similar AMD
Memory: 2GB or better   Hard Drive: 80gb or better
Screen: 14" or better on standard models, 12" or better on lighter models
Video: 1024x768 resolution or better
Wireless: 802.11 a or g (B no longer supported) 
Other Necessary Devices: USB 
Operating System: Windows XP Pro (not XP Home) or better, Windows 7 preferred...

Mac Laptops:
CPU:  Intel processor
Memory: 2GB or better
Hard Drive: 80gb or better
Screen: 13" or better on standard models, 11" on MacAir
Video: 1024x768 resolution or better
Wireless: 802.11 a or g (B no longer supported)
Other Necessary Devices: USB 
Operating System: Mac OS 10.5.8 or better  (10.8 not yet supported in exam software)

Please note that Macs may have limited functionality in certain web applications on our Banner Student Info system due to limitations with the Safari browser...
